HOLY HIVE BROOM

Following suit with Big Crown's soul inflected guitar music, Holy Hive release a mellow 60's inspired folk single called 'Broom', alongside a sweet music video that sees one of the members dance on a roof. Homer Steinweiss, the Brooklyn based soul-funk drummer with a soft spot for folk music met Paul Spring, a young folk singer through their girlfriends who are cousins. Later, studio assistant Joe Harrison joined the band, and the three began creating cosy, sun-drenched music. 'Broom' opens with round drums, instantly filling your ears with warmth. Leisurely guitars ripple like calm water, whilst saxophones play a parallel harmony, brightening the chorus. Paul Spring sings with a charming and exposing falsetto "it's alright, you should stay, all this night". Gathering steady momentum from their spring 2019 Harping EP featuring Mary Lattimore and Sasami and a handful of 45rpm singles, Holy Hive’s debut album arrives Spring 2020 on Big Crown Records. -Ellie Rose-Davies
